Akoya Pearl Necklace Can Be Classy and Bold

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Akoya pearls are usually perfectly round and lustrous.  These pearls are only found in the sea.  Usually cultured in Japan, these classic pearls are quite common in high quality white pearl jewelry.  Beautiful perfectly matched pearl strands of akoya pearls are the best necklaces for the lady of discriminating taste.

Pinctata Fucata is the name of this small bivalve mollusk that produces these sea jewels.  Akoya pearls are quite abundant in Japanese waters and they thrive there.  Akoyas are known for their perfect roundness and high luster.  These pearls are also found in other parts of the world but are more common in Japanese waters.

Akoya pearl necklaces are unmistakably the most sought after for that classic look.  Aloha Pearls carries quite a selection of akoya necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings to choose from.  Occasionally there will be strands of emerald green akoya pearls that rival the Tahitian peacock pearls.  These dark sea jewels can be purchased at our store or ordered through our web site.  Usually the akoya pearl is smaller than the Tahitian pearl, but they are quite round and easy to match for a perfect necklace strand.
